Want to Lose Weight? Here Is How Much You Need to Walk in Order to Burn Fat and Feel Great!

Nearly everyone at some point in their lives wants to lose weight. There are various reasons for doing so but for most people, it’s to be healthier and to look and feel their best.

We are flooded with fitness equipment ads and infomercials on television but there is one exercise that is effective, low-impact, and free…it’s walking! Walking is perfect for anyone regardless of body weight and doesn’t require expensive gym memberships or exercise equipment. One man lost over 300 pounds by walking to Walmart every day and walking outside also lets you soak in the beauty of nature.

Working out at the gym is not for everyone and intimating for some people just starting to workout.

Walking, on the other hand, is safe for anyone and makes you happier since it helps release Dopamine, a “feel good” hormone in your brain.

How much you need to walk to see results? How often do you need to walk? Keep on reading…

Losing one pound of fat requires losing approximately 3,500 calories. So how much do you need to walk to lose one pound?

Walking one mile or 2,000 steps equates to losing about 100 calories. So if you were to walk 5 miles per day or 10,000 then you would lose about 500 extra calories per day.

500 calories multiplied by 7 days a week equals 3,500 calories and you’d, therefore, lose one pound per week by walking 5 miles daily.

But there is one small catch. In order to lose weight, you have to ensure that you’re not consuming extra calories as you want a 500 calories deficit every day. In other words, no more junk food!

Actually, losing weight doesn’t mean restricting yourself of the foods you love. Doing so may cause you to binge if you’re depriving yourself. It simply means eating them in moderation or as a reward for reaching a milestone (i.e. losing 10 pounds) and walking every single day.

By eating healthy and walking daily, you’ll be on your way to losing weight gradually and keeping it off.

To recap, walking 5 miles every single day will help shed 500 calories a day which will result in 3,500 calories lost per week. Losing weight is never easy but walking is one of the best low-impact exercises to help you lose weight and stay fit.
