When I started college, I didn’t have a car so my dad would drive me to and from school until I bought one. Because I was in my early 20s, I felt embarrassed that my dad had to pick me up; therefore, I would ask him to pick me up further down the school. This way, none of my friends would notice I needed one of my parents to pick me up.
Why is it that when we’re young, some of us feel like being seen with our parents is uncool? By doing so, I probably made him feel like he was unappreciated. When I got older, I did thank my dad for being there every single day.
In the following video, a mom named Ann Pinto McCarney also feels unappreciated because her son went away to college and hasn’t called in several weeks. Some parents love to text but instead, she recorded a hilarious video to help joggle his memory and begins with, “Do you remember me? I’m your Mommy.”
