Because of social media, there are a lot of food and fitness fads that come and go; however, every once in a while, a few of them turn out to be the real deal and are backed by scientific research. We all know that exercise provides long-lasting benefits and walking is one of the easiest exercises to lose weight; however, sometimes there are health factors that could prohibit someone from exercising.
Researchers from the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Loughborough discovered that an hour-long bath in 40-degree Celcius water provides the same health and anti-inflammatory effects as a 30-minute walk. The scientists had 14 men take a one-hour bike ride followed by a one-hour bath. While cycling burned more calories, participants lost 130 calories relaxing in a bath. Roughly the same calories someone would lose taking a 30-minute walk.
Researchers found that relaxing in a 40C bath for an hour was as effective as a 30-minute walk for burning calories.
Icelanders also seem to have the right idea and many other cultures swear by the benefits of hot baths.

Interestingly, researchers also found that the study participants also found their peak blood sugar was 10% lower after their bath. Because it also reduces inflammation, researchers have also concluded that bathing can also help lower blood pressure.
Please share how taking an hour-long bath can be as effective as a 30-minute walk with your friends and family.
