Only minutes into her first audition, it’s easy to realize that 12-year-old Darci Lynne is a born entertainer. With every performance, she raises the bar even higher and her finals performance is her best yet. She not only had one puppet but performed a duet with two puppets!
Born on October 12, 2004 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Darci grew up as a shy child. After seeing her first ventriloquist act at a local church event, she immediately was drawn to it. On her 10th birthday, she asked her parents for a puppet and felt that it may help overcome her shyness. Entirely self-taught, It’s incredible how much she has learned and how talented she has become! After only a brief two years, 12-year-old Darci Lynne definitely overcame her shyness and rose to become one of the youngest ventriloquists ever.
America’s Got Talent 2017 Audition
During her America’s Got Talent 2017 audition, Lynne and her puppet Petunia wows audiences with her wonderful rendition of ‘Summertime’. While she impresses the judges with her ventriloquism skills, it’s her beautiful singing voice that makes their jaw drop. Mel B was so impressed that she bestowed 12-year-old Darci Lynne with the Golden Buzzer which automatically sends her to the semi-finals.

America’s Got Talent 2017 Quarterfinals
At the quarter finals, Lynne steps it up a notch and performs with a new puppet named ‘Oscar’. Oscar is the cutest mouse you will ever see! She chooses to sing Jackson 5’s ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’ and while the song isn’t easy vocally, she nails every note with style. It was so good that Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel all gave her a standing ovation. To thank her for pressing the Golden Buzzer, Darci Lynne also dedicates the song to Mel B!

America’s Got Talent 2017 Semifinals
At the semifinals, Lynne returns with yet another puppet named ‘Edna’. Edna is an 80ish Grandma that isn’t afraid of expressing her undying love for Simon! Darci and Edna perform an impressive cover of Aretha Franklin’s timeless ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ and stuns the judges once again. Halfway through her set, Darci walks over with Edna and serenades Simon Cowell. It was a nice touch and it even made him blush!

America’s Got Talent 2017 Finals
At the America’s Got Talent 2017 Finals, Darci Lynne wows crowds again with another unforgettable performance. Just when you think 12-year-old can’t top her previous acts, she knocks it out of the park with not one, but two puppets! With her loveable mouse ‘Oscar’ and her cute bunny ‘Petunia’ she performs the timeless Beatles classic ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’ and it’s amazing.

Young Darci is a genius for leaving this unbelievable performance for the finals. It was brilliant, entertaining, and full of charm. There are many talented acts at this year’s America’s Got Talent but Darci Lynne is one in a million.
America’s Got Talent 2017 Finale
During the Finale episode of America’s Got Talent, she had surprise guests cheering her on. First there was Jeff Dunham, a brilliant ventriloquist and comedian that also started young. He tells Darci that he was only 8 years old when he started training to be a ventriloquist from a ‘how-to’ book from the library!
Next, Darci Lynne invites one of her idols and second season America’s Got Talent winner, Terry Fator. Along with his puppet Winston, the ventriloquist extraordinaire and Darci Lynne have an unbelievably sweet performance of ‘Anything You Can Do’ from Annie Get Your Gun.

America loves Darci Lynne and her amazing talent! With all those loving votes, she was crowned the winner of America’s Got Talent 2017! She was visibility emotional as she and her fellow finalist, Angelica Hale waited to hear the results. The minute she hears host Tyra Banks mention her name, she looked so humble and excited. Angelica Hale is equally amazing and I feel we will see her again soon as her career flourishes.

Overall, it was an amazing season of America’s Got Talent 2017 and there were so many talented performers. Nobody is a loser on the finale and many performers such as Sara and Hero, Mandy Harvey, and Light Balance will go on to bigger and better things!
