When Garth Brooks saw a cancer patient holding a sign that read, “Chemo this morning. Garth tonight. Enjoying ‘The Dance.'” he felt compelled to meet her and give her a gift.
Teresa Shaw has been battling breast cancer and didn’t let chemotherapy treatment get in the way of enjoying a night of great music and friends. Little did she know that she would get to meet the star and get a huge hug from Garth himself. He also presented her with a gift, his personal guitar!
As the song winds up, Garth tells the crowd as he holds Teresa’s sign in his hand, “Sometimes, if God just wrote in the sky ‘I exist’ then there would never be any doubt. Well, I want to tell you right now. God just stuck his hand out and wrote this! You have all my strength, you have everybody’s strength in here, and you go kick cancer’s ass!”
