Police officers risk their lives every day to keep us and our cities safe and it’s heartbreaking when an officer or police dog lose their lives on the job. Three years ago, 33-year-old Jason Ellis, a K-9 officer, was ambushed and gunned down while he stopped to remove debris in the road.
His partner police dog, Figo, was one of the most loyal police dogs any officer could have had but he wasn’t with Ellis when the incident happened. At his funeral on May 30, 2013, Figo the police dog laid his paw against his casket and wanted to say goodbye to his partner one last time.
