All I Want Is a Pepperoni Pizza Cake. You’ll Be Drooling When You Bake It!

At this point, if I had to choose between a cronut or a slice of pepperoni pizza cake, I’d choose the latter in a second. The absolute best thing though is that unlike the cronut which its recipe and cooking technique are held in secrecy (except for some close copycat recipes), a pepperoni pizza cake can be created under an hour using only 5 ingredients.

I first saw a pizza cake when Canadian pizza chain Boston Pizza held a contest. It actually was the winning entry and will soon be available in Boston Pizza restaurants but what if you wanted to make this at home?

Enter Pillsbury. Last week, they posted a recipe with photo instructions on how to build the ultimate pepperoni pizza cake at home. You also don’t need any fancy kitchen gadgets, only a tall 6″ springform pan (4 inches tall is fine). Here’s a rundown of how to build it:

Oh yes, they did! Pillsbury pizza dough will help you build this awesome pizza cake.

All you need is two cans of Pillsbury pizza crust, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. You can find the full recipe ingredients at the bottom of this page.

Open the first can of pizza dough and press onto cookie sheet. Cut out 3 six-inch circles and bake them on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.

Open the second can of pizza dough, cut 2 six-inch circles and bake them for 8 minutes. Use the remaining dough to cut a long rectangle strip about an inch taller than your pan (pictured is a 6-inch springform pan).

Now that you have 5 baked pizza crusts, line the inside of the pan with parchment paper and drape the long strip of dough around the inside of the pan leaving an overhang as shown. Put the first piece of cooled pizza dough at the bottom of the pan.

Here comes the fun part so ask your kids to help. Spread a little pizza sauce over the bottom layer, followed by some pepperoni, and finally some shredded mozzarella cheese.

Add another of the cooked pizza crusts and layer again with sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat this process until the last pizza crust. Spread sauce, cheese, and pepperoni over the top pizza crust layer as shown below.

Roll up the overhanging crust to make a nice pizza crust and brush dough with melted butter. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes and get ready for cheesy pizza goodness.
