It’s been a very difficult time for police officers and other law enforcement members because of recent happenings in the media. Media coverage about police violence or bad behavior has led to many officers feeling like they are being targeted; however, Americans have faith in the law enforcement personnel who work every single day to keep us safe.
Some customers visiting a local KFC restaurant in Gallipolis, Ohio were presented by a sign on their door. It invites police officers to a free KFC meal to thank them for their service and for keeping the streets of Gallipolis, Ohio safe. It’s great to see restaurants like this KFC in Gallipolis, Ohio that cares for its community. It reminds me of this local McDonald’s that gave away a birthday party for a 93-year-old widower who lost his wife in 2009.
The KFC sign in Gallipolis, Ohio reads, “All uniformed police officers eat free every day, all day.”
While this kind deed has been praised by most customers of KFC in Gallipolis, Ohio, it has been criticized by others. Some felt that other members such as first responders should also be given the same treatment. To help silence any critics, the administrators of the Ohio Going Blue Facebook page posted a comment.
This is a positive post, but some of you can’t see the bigger picture.
As an officer, I do not go into any establishment expecting/wanting ANYTHING to be free or let alone even a discount, whether I’m in uniform or not, and I can tell you other officers feel the same way. We don’t like “special treatment”. The fact is that KFC is acknowledging law enforcement, which is why this was posted.
To those who stated that other first responders should also be acknowledged. My answer? ABSOLUTELY.
