We have featured many shipping container homes; however, none look as impressive as this shipping container home designed by London-based designer James Whitaker. To be located on a 90-acre plot of land in California and named ‘The Joshua Tree Residence,’ the 2,150-square-foot (200-square meter) home is a marvel of design.
This home designed by London-based designer James Whitaker features a spacious living room and kitchen.
The home also features 3 en-suite bedrooms and the outside is just as stunning as the inside.
This shipping container home is named ‘The Joshua Tree Residence’ and is designed with several shipping containers joined at different angles.
The design creates the illusion of a flower blooming in the middle of the desert.
“Earlier this year my client in LA had some friends visiting and, having a little time to spare, they all went on a road trip to visit the client’s plot of land in Joshua Tree,” said James.
The living room features 3 southern-facing shipping containers to get a view of the desert.
“One of the friends said, “you know what would look great here?”, before opening her laptop to show everyone a picture she’d seen on the internet. The picture was an office that I’d designed several years ago but had never been built, so the next time the client was in London he got in touch and asked to meet up.”
The interior features clean lines and a contemporary design.
Construction is scheduled to begin this year and this shipping container home will also be 100% solar powered once completed.
