What do guinea pigs like to eat? Can guinea pigs eat cucumbers? Of course, they can! Guinea pigs are small but for one guinea pig called Tomas, his eyes are bigger than his stomach. Tomas the guinea pig is adorably cute and loves to munch on cucumbers.

But sometimes he bites off more than he can chew and when he took a large bite, he started choking on it. Thankfully, his owner was there and noticed him chocking so she patted him on the back and he spits it out.

But in a later video, it seems that Tomas the guinea pig is a little more responsible this time around. His owner decided to let him eat at his own pace on a larger piece of cucumber instead of chopping it up into small chunks that he could potentially chock on. He’s now munching on a larger cucumber piece and taking smaller bites. Isn’t Tomas the guinea pig adorable cute?

Tomas learned his lesson and now prefers nibbling at his own pace on a larger piece of cucumber…

That’s a great tip for any pet owner. To prevent choking, give your pet a large piece of fruit or vegetable that they can’t possibly fit into their mouth and they’ll just nibble on it instead!

While cucumbers aren’t high in nutritional value, they are a refreshing snack because they are composed of nearly 95% water. It’s a great way to keep your guinea pig or any pet hydrated during hot summer months. If you include the skin and seeds, it also provides some fiber as well so just provide them with a large slice and it makes a great snack. Don’t forget to supervise them while they eat it though!
