There are so many reasons why animals will leave their young in the wild. Most of the time it is because they think their young are injured so they sometimes have no choice and it is heartbreaking.

Just like a man that found a baby squirrel in a bag of mulch, photographer Nick Radford wasn’t expecting to find an animal in distress when he went hiking in the woods near his California home. He found a baby squirrel freezing in the cold and starving to death so he picked him up and began taking care of it while taking incredible pictures of his cute recovery.

He wrapped him up with the hood of his jacket and brought him home.

The little fella now had a cozy and warm nest that Nick made in his sink using a heating pad.
