Stunning Places to Visit Before You Die #1: Sagano Bamboo Forest, Japan
Deep in the heart of Arashiyama, a rural district in Kyoto, Japan, lies a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. A path through a bamboo forest is only one of the many natural treasures this place has to offer.
If you get lost among the branches, let the wind play percussion with the trees – it’s a beautiful sight and sound.
Stunning Places to Visit Before You Die #2: Benagil Cave, Portugal
The Benagil village in Portugal boasts several picturesque caves and islands just offshore. Letting your eyes explore the natural curves of these stone cathedrals will make a lasting impression.
If you were to choose any beach worldwide for a romantic rendezvous, this would be it.
Stunning Places to Visit Before You Die #3: Cenote Ik Kil, Mexico
A cenote is a natural pit or sinkhole that forms when limestone collapses, exposing the groundwater underneath. These unique swimming holes are found all over Mexico and are popular tourist destinations.
Cenote Ik Kil is one of the most beautiful, with its turquoise waters and lush greenery.
4) Fairy Pool, The Isle of Skye, Scotland
The Isle of Skye, Scotland is an otherworldly place that will take your breath away. Among these breathtaking beauties are stunning mountains eroded by years of crystal cool water running down their sides, building their path towards a pond that looks straight out of children’s storybooks.
The Isle of Skye’s Fairy Pool definitely lives up to its name with a view like this. I think I see a fairy right now!
5) Hidden Beach, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Although this beach in Mexico looks like a naturally occurring paradise, it is actually the aftermath of something much more destructive. The Marieta Islands were once a bombing site used by the Mexican government for practice but has since been referred to as one of the most idyllic locations in the world.
After the government received many complaints, they stopped bombing the island and announced it as a natural park. Tides bring sand and water to fill these holes over time, resulting in beautiful beaches now isolated from the rest of the world.
6) Rainbow Mountains, Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, China
The mountains in the picture may look like a hallucination, but they’re actually the Danaxia landforms found at Zhangye Geological Park! These rainbow-colored mountains are unique to China and definitely worth seeing.
Research has found that this area was once an inland water basin. 100 million years ago, the nearby mountains slowly released silt into the basin through rivers and streams. With time, the sediments forged elaborate designs before oxidizing into a rust color due to global warming.
7) Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia.
Disorientation comes easy in Salar de Uyuni’s mirrored world; it is the largest salt flat on Earth, globally recognized for its size of 10,582 square kilometers (4,086 sq mi). These photos were taken in southwest Bolivia at the seldom-visited natural wonder.
The area was created from ancient lakes that transformed into a water-salted crust. As a result, the land sits as a smooth and level expanse that reflects the sky like glass.
8) Tulip Fields, Holland
As the days grow warmer and longer in early spring, the sandy fields outside Alkmaar, Holland come alive with new growth. The blank canvas becomes a scene of color as blooming flowers fill the landscape.
Reds, blues, pinks, and yellows paint the field; it’s almost as if you’ve stepped into a scene from The Wizard of Oz (minus the lions, tigers, and bears). Photographer Allard One captures this magical moment.
9) Waitomo Glowworm Caves, New Zealand
The Waitomo Glowworm Caves are located in the Waikato region of New Zealand and are known for their glowworms. Arachnocampa Luminosa, more commonly known as glowworms, are found in other parts of the world; however, these ones give the cave its nickname, ‘The Grotto of Light.’ The larvae of these glowworms weave webs in the caves and emit light to attract their prey. These bioluminescent creatures turn the cave into a starry night sky.
