Here Is How One Picture Is Making a Difference and Saving the Lives of Shelter Animals

Animal rescue centers and shelters play a vital role in caring for and finding homes for abandoned and neglected animals. However, animal rescue centers and animal shelters are for the majority understaffed. Most centers rely on individuals who love animals and want to give their time to help them. But, some don’t have the resources such as professional photographers or photography training. It’s a fact that most animals get adopted if they are well-groomed and accompanied by a positive picture. Both these things encourage people to visit the shelter and see how cute they are firsthand.

Recognizing this need, an initiative by GreaterGood.org and several partners was created to provide animal shelters and volunteers across the country with training and resources to successfully groom and photograph shelter pets. The initiative One Picture Saves a Life was started as a partnership between Seth Casteel, The Animal Rescue Site, WAHL Home Products, and the Petfinder Foundation. professional groomer Jorge Bendersky, and of course GreaterGood.org.

The primary focus of One Picture Saves a Life is to enhance the visual appeal of shelter pets through proper grooming and skilled photography techniques. By equipping shelters and volunteers with the necessary knowledge and tools, this initiative aims to increase the chances of these animals finding loving homes.

The impact of this program is significant. Providing shelters with training on grooming techniques and photography skills empowers volunteers to showcase the animals’ best attributes and increase their overall adoptability. This, in turn, creates a positive cycle, as more adoptions free up space in shelters, allowing them to rescue and care for additional animals in need. With better pictures and better grooming, the animals get the second chance that they so rightly deserve.

Please share this initiative with your family and friends.
