A chef that works at the Casbah Mediterranean Kitchen and Wine Bar wanted to reveal what exactly goes on behind the scenes at a high-end restaurant.
These guys take their work seriously and work long hours but also take time to have a bit of fun. And just like this McDonald’s employee helping a disabled elderly man with his meal, restaurant chefs often go above and beyond what their job description entails.
The foods we eat at restaurants are made by people who have a passion for food and these chefs really showcase that.
This chef has worked in a kitchen his entire life and gets to do what he loves for a living.
All work and no play will make you manager 🙂 Having fun at work is important.
But these guys put in LONG hours to prepare the wonderful dishes we eat. Sometimes as much as 16 hours a day!
Being on your feet all day takes a toll on your shoes.
When they do finally have time to eat themselves, they usually do so standing up.
They plan their schedules every day down to the minute.
Plan the ingredients for all their dishes.
They even plan detailed steps of all events.
And keep tabs on all inventory. That’s almost a full-time job in itself.
Now I’m jealous, they work with cool high-tech toys like CryoVac machines…
…and immersion circulators.
They also have low-tech toys and know how to squeeze out tunes out of their iPod dock (that has seen better days).
They work with fresh ingredients from the land and sea…
…including freshly caught shrimp…
…and lots and lots of fresh crab.
Great chefs always taste what they cook and they taste everything until it’s perfectly seasoned.
Drool warning: the following images may put you in a state of food-induced bliss.
At the end of the day, it’s all about the customer experience and these chefs put their heart and soul into everything they do.
And make friends along the way.
This really opened up my eyes and revealed who the real rock stars are at restaurants. No matter how great the service is from greeters or servers, the food has to be great and chefs like these help deliver what customers want.
Next time you have a great meal at a restaurant, give your compliments to the chef! Please share this with your friends and family.
