This 102-Year-Old Woman Recently Lost Her Cat. What Happened Shortly Afterwards Will Warm Your Heart.

Regardless of what age you are, losing your pet can be a traumatic experience. When Iona, a 102-year-old woman, recently lost her cat, her son decided to bring her to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Conroe, Texas in hopes that she adopts one.

According to the Huffington Post, Iona had her cat for over 10 years and wanted to find a new companion. When she found a 2-year-old cat named Edward and picked him up, he instantly snuggled up next to her. Barbara Bates, the adoption coordinator of Montgomery County Animal Shelter, said “It just filled my heart. The kitty just snuggled right up to her. Matched the outfit she had on.”

She then asked Iona if she could take her picture and Iona replied “Honey, I sure hope I don’t break your camera.” She’s funny and the picture is so sweet. The picture captured the touching moment between Iona and Edward and quickly went viral on social media. The internet was flooded with heartwarming comments and wishes for Iona and her new shelter cat.
